_Kudzanai Chiurai — State of The Nation ( Recap )

I went to the opening night of Kudzanai Chiurai’s State of the Nation exhibition. It was one for the books for sure.

It was a night of beautiful art, good company and great music… I didn’t get you shoot as much as I wanted, I almost missed Thandiswa’s performance as well. (This woman is on another level.)… But here is what I got…

Zaki for President.

And some stolen moments…

Mellow and Uviwe… these two are my heroes.

Mr Sindiso Nyoni, I see you.

Dj Kenzhero laced up some dope tunes.

I dig this chair… Dope work by Kudzanai, Zac and Bhubesi.

_All Originals: I-Art-Soweto

It was such a blessing get an email about this project, last month. This is a really dope project curated by A WORD OF ART. It started in Woodstock, Cape Town a few months ago. Now, in the beginning of this month, a group of artists got together for a weekend to paint beautiful murals on the walls of Mofolo Park, Soweto.

It was a weekend to remember… Meeting up with some of the coolest street artists, like HacOne, the man behind Satta Design, Freddy Sam ( A WORD OF ART ), Fuzzy Slippers ( Mafuta Ink ), just to name a few.  It was a really inspirational weekend. The response from the community was really cool. Giving back to the community via Street Art.

To find out more about the project check out the site and don’t miss the Exhibition on 07 october 2011 at the Main Street Life, Joburg. Doors open at - 20:00.
Then theres a After party with the following entertainers:

The Howlin’ Shibanski Blue Band
SkinDeep & Meat the veggies
Playkaystat
Tshekedi ( comedian )

The entrance is  R20.

Snap you there.
Peace.

_75 Exhibition – Jozi

My people from 75 are doing it again and this time, they are doing in Jozi. These people have mad skills behind their lenses.

This exhibition kick starts this evening at the Jozi Art Labs, Art on Main.

Here is the rest of the info:
A photographic experience of Jozi, Johazrdous, JSection. The beauty, the skyline, the decay and the faces of Joburgs future generation. The Isolation, freedom, the grit n grime. The human interactions with the city.

The graphers, Sfiso Sibanyoni ( http://75.co.za/sfiso )- captures what he likes Johann Barnard’s ( http://75.co.za/barnardinho ) Faces of Jozi, Jeffrey Rikhotso’s ( http://75.co.za/jeff_rikhotso ) Emancipation and Darren Smith ( http://75.co.za/daz ), are all inspired to capture the essence, the feeling, the nuisances that can only be felt, seen and experienced in Jozi.

They all undoubtedly have a passion for using light and share
mutual enthusiasm for the city and the stories it has to tell. The city is the canvas.
